Before end of the year 2014. Silvasti project team unloaded over 60 wind turbine tower sections to storage area to wait transportation to the final site. The first step of project were carried out successfully in arctic conditions

The first step of project started immediately after Christmas, the Port of Kalajoki Silvasti handled for port handling operation of heavy lift vessel coming directly from China to Finland – Loaded with markets largest onshore wind turbine tower sections. Operation was very challenging, in hardcore conditions snow and minus Celsius degrees, the Chinese captain of vessel reports its his first time he see this conditions! (And snow). To get alongside they quay 2 tugboats was positioned 100 km’s away, thus of 2 tugs – a 2 hours operation to manage to get the vessel alongside, because of ice conditions at unloading berth. Shipping and port operations was coordinated by the staff of Silvasti Germany office Silvasti Project GmbH and trucking and warehousing from experts from Finland office.
